Cyber Monday will be the largest online shopping day in history, with more than $6 billion in sales, according to Adobe Analytics. Fred Katayama reports.
This year's online holiday shopping season will set new records, according to Adobe Analytics. Americans have already spent more than $28 billion online in the first 21 days of November. They've bought toys such as Hatchimals, tech gadgets, like Amazon Echo and Oculus Rift, Dell laptops and Super Mario games. Adobe says it will only get better on November 27. The company predicts Cyber Monday will be the largest online shopping day in U.S. history, with more than $6 billion in sales. NPD Group's Marshal Cohen forecasts the winners. (SOUNDBITE) MARSHAL COHEN, CHIEF INDUSTRY ANALYST AT THE NPD GROUP (ENGLISH) SAYING: "Fifty one percent of people will start their shopping process on a place like Amazon. So, you have the ability to recognize, online is going to be the big winner. The other ones that are going to win will be selective retailers in the mass merchant category. So, you know, stores like Wal-Mart and Target, and then you also have one or two of the department store businesses and national chains, so look for Kohl's, who, you know, has ramped up their national brand campaign, and they'll look to do well as well." Adobe Analytics also forecasts the day after the Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday, will achieve $5 billion in sales and the whole Thanksgiving weekend $3 billion.
