ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Vice President Mike Pence says under the leadership of President Trump, the U.S. will no longer "fall behind in the race for space." He made the remarks at the first National Space Council meeting on Thursday. "America seems to have lost our edge in space and those days are over," Pence said at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia. "Here we are in 2017 still relying on the Russians to ferry our astronauts to the International Space Station," Pence said. "We have resolved with the leadership of Donald Trump to never let America fall behind in the race for space." Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao were also at the event.
