ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Russian President Vladimir Putin reviewed a parade of military vessels in St Petersburg on Sunday (July 30) as the country celebrated Navy Day. Putin congratulated navy officers and sailors onboard military vessels and submarines before a parade was staged on the Neva River, followed by a short air show and gun salute. The Russian leader said the naval fleet was making a "significant contribution in the fight against terrorism". Russia has a naval base in Syria's Tartus, which has been used heavily since its 2015 intervention in the Syria crisis with Russian forces supporting President Bashar al-Assad.
