Representative Steve Scalise has been discharged from a Washington hospital six weeks after being shot at a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia. Nathan Frandino reports.
Representative Steve Scalise, who was shot and wounded last month at a congressional baseball practice, has been released from the hospital. MedStar Washington Hospital Center announced his discharge in a tweet saying he was released on Tuesday. It said Scalise now begins intensive inpatient rehabilitation. The Louisiana lawmaker was among a group of Republican lawmakers attacked in Alexandria, Virginia on June 14, by gunman James Hodgkinson, who had a history of posting angry messages against Republican President Donald Trump. Hodgkinson was shot dead by police at the ballpark. The hospital says Scalise has made excellent progress and that he looks forward to returning to work.
