UK's Daily Mail will pay U.S. First Lady Melania Trump an undisclosed sum and issue an apology for publishing a story saying the U.S. First Lady had offered ''services beyond simply modelling'' in her former job. Alicia Powell reports.
The Daily Mail will pay about $3 million to settle with Melania Trump, according to a source. Last August, the tabloid published a story that said U.S. First Lady worked as an escort. In response, she sued its publisher in Britain and filed a $150 million lawsuit in New York, saying the article cost her millions of dollars in potential business. On Wednesday, the Daily Mail apologized for the article and issued a retraction on its home page. Melania Trump also sued a Maryland blogger for publishing similar claims. That lawsuit was settled in February for, what Trump's lawyer called, a "substantial sum."
