Syrian military video shows soldiers, tanks moving through Deir-Khabiyeh, a key town south of the capital. Gavino Garay reports.
The Syrian military has released video it says shows government forces taking hold of Deir-Khabiyeh, a town just south of Damascus. It's part of an offensive to drive rebels out of key cities including Aleppo which are located along major supply routes. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government, with Russian air support, launched the assault on Aleppo in September. The Russian-backed attacks have been met with international condemnation, straining ties between Moscow and the West. A new round of ceasefire talks convened by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Switzerland ended with no major breakthrough over the weekend, with no end to Syria's five-and-a-half year war in sight.
