Young Republicans applaud Trump's performance against Clinton in the second U.S. presidential debate but are divided over who won. Paul Chapman reports.
Young Republicans in California following the second U.S. presidential debate were largely happy with Donald Trump's performance against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. (SOUNDBITE)(English) JULIAN DE REAL-CALLEROS, VICE PRESIDENT OF LONG BEACH YOUNG REPUBLICANS, SAYING: "Donald Trump did perform better and Hillary was at the defence (on the defensive)." (SOUNDBITE)(English) CLIA ZWILLING, PRESIDENT OF LONG BEACH REPUBLICANS, SAYING: "I'll say Trump did a better job of pointing out the things that the public wanted him to point out and I'm sure Hillary pointed out the things that the Democrats wanted her to point out." (SOUNDBITE)(English) JEFF NORMAN, TRUMP SUPPORTER, SAYING: "He's not the greatest debater, it's not his strength, but I thought he did well and he landed some shots and I liked the zingers." The 2005 tape of Trump using vulgar language and talking about non-consensual groping of women doesn't seem to have dented his popularity either. (SOUNDBITE)(English) MARK RIZK, MEMBER OF LONG BEACH YOUNG REPUBLICANS, SAYING: "Every time Hillary Clinton tried to bring up the tape that unfortunately came out a day or two ago he just reminded her: 'Hey, your husband has a track record that far exceeds anything that I've ever said.'" (SOUNDBITE)(English) BOB ARTHUR, REPUBLICAN SUPPORTER SAYING: "I think his apology was sincere. He answered the question right off the top, right away, move on." Trump and Clinton will come face to face again for the third and final debate on October 19th in Las Vegas.
