ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The French National Day, also known as Bastille Day, ended with a flare on Thursday with a massive fireworks display illuminating the Eiffel Tower red, white and blue. The annual Bastille Day celebrations included a traditional parade down the Champs Elysees earlier in the day, kicked off by French President Francois Hollande and with dignitaries in attendance. Bastille Day on July 14 commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison by angry crowds in 1789, helping launch the French Revolution. The Bastille prison, where opponents of the monarchy were kept, was targeted for symbolizing royal rule.
