STORY: Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Greece's monastic community of Mount Athos on Saturday (May 28) to attend the 1000th anniversary of a Russian monastery. The Russian leader was welcomed by Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Yannis Amanatidis and a delegation of the monastic community. Following the service held in his honor, Putin met with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos. The Russian leader's two-day visit to Greece comes on the heels of a warning he sent to Romania and Poland, saying they could find themselves under fire because they are hosting elements of a U.S. missile shield that Moscow considers a threat to its security.
