Former U.S. Senator and longtime actor Fred Thompson has reportedly died at age 73. A Tennessee newspaper quoted a statement from his family saying Thompson died from a recurrence of lymphoma. Thompson first gained popular attention as a legal counsel on the Senate Watergate Committee investigating the 1972 incident. He was elected to the Senate in 1994 and served until 2003... running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. Before and after his political career, Thompson worked as a film and television actor, where he played a district attorney in the Law & Order series. A family statement says Thompson died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
