Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk says Apple hires people the electric car maker has fired. Fred Katayama reports.
A Musk-read story on Apple. Elon Musk bashing Apple, saying he and his staff jokingly call it the "Tesla Graveyard." The CEO of the electric car maker made those comments in an interview with the German business daily Handelsblatt. Musk contending that iPhone maker has - in his words - "hired people we've fired." Perhaps he's peeved because Apple poached a senior engineer two months ago from Tesla. Sources say Apple is looking at developing self-driving electric cars, pitting it potentially against Tesla and Google, among others. Musk's potshots come just as Apple had some embarrassing news. It said it removed some apps from its store that it said threatened users' security. Among those: the ad blocking app, Been Choice. On the other hand, Apple is the choice for an increasing number of those who still buy personal computers. IDC says it beat out Lenovo in volume in the third quarter to reclaim the third spot in U.S. shipments. But back to Musk ... the outspoken entrepreneur who's often compared to Apple founder Steve Jobs. He dissed the Apple Watch, saying "... cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches. You can't just go to a supplier like Foxconn and say: Build me a car." Apple couldn't be reached immediately for comment.
