Israeli soldiers shoot dead a Palestinian teenager who had stabbed an Israeli trooper near the West Bank city of Nablus. Sean Carberry reports.
Tensions remain high in the West Bank. Israeli paramilitary police shot and killed a 16-year old Palestinian boy after he stabbed an officer, police say. The incident came just hours after the Israeli army said that another Palestinian was shot and wounded. That shooting also took place after the victim stabbed a soldier at a checkpoint on a highway in the West Bank. In both cases, the Israeli personnel were lightly hurt. Earlier in the week, Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian who stabbed an Israeli citizen at a gas station in the West Bank. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the latest shooting near the city of Nablus as a "grave escalation" of violence in the area.
