The president of Iraq's Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, said a Turkish aerial bombardment on the village of Zargala killed a number of civilians. Turkey has repeatedly attacked the camps of pro-Kurdish PKK militants in northern Iraq in the past week .... Saying the strikes are a response to a series of targeted killings of Turkish police and soldiers by the militant group. At least 260 Kurdish militants have been killed since the air campaign began. The PKK has waged a decades-long insurgency against Turkey... in a conflict that has left 40,000 people dead. Ankara is looking into the claim of civilian casualties from the bombardments, while President Barzani is urging a return to Turkey's peace process with the militants.
