It's official. President Obama is now on Twitter. The commander-in-chief sent his very first tweet from his OWN Twitter account on Monday. It read, "Hello, Twitter! It's Barack. Really! Six years in, they're finally giving me my own account." Within 45 minutes of sending his first tweet, Obama gained more than 217,000 followers. Some couldn't believe it was really the President. First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed her husband by tweeting, "It's about time." The White House says Obama sent the tweet from the Oval Office using a phone. Twitter followers can expect to hear more from the president in the future. A White House official says Obama will use the @POTUS account to amplify his message on social media.
