ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Designer Diane von Furstenberg kick-started Singapore Fashion Week on Wednesday (May 13) night by opening with her Autumn/Winter 2015 collection named 'Seduction'. The designer, known for her signature wrap dress, said her latest collection, which was shown in New York City in February this year, was partly inspired by Asia. She said the last time she was in Singapore was about five years ago. "I'm very excited because Singapore is such a dynamic city, and it has changed so much, and it has so much excitement, so I'm very excited to be here," she said. This year's Singapore Fashion Week was previously known as the Audi Fashion Festival Singapore. Hollywood star Cate Blanchett and South Korean actress Yoon Eun-hye are among the celebrities set to attend. The creator of Singapore Fashion Week, Tjin Lee, said she envisions the city state becoming the fashion hub of Asia. This year's five-day event also marks the first official attendance of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), of which von Furstenberg is President. Organisers said they hope to nurture emerging designers in Singapore and help showcase their work abroad. CDFA's Chief Executive Steven Kolb said he's impressed with the homegrown talent so far. He added that CFDA is set to bring Signaporean designers to New York in June for an immersion programme to meet buyers and showrooms. The CFDA has been a treasure trove of new labels in the past, having produced celebrated international designers such as Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim. Singapore Fashion Week will wrap up with a finale by Victoria Beckham.
