ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi for talks in Moscow on Tuesday (April 7). Wang is visiting Russia to discuss cooperation between the two countries' presidents, Russia's Foreign Ministry said last week. Lavrov praised the countries' ties in a morning meeting. Russia and China see eye-to-eye on many international policy matters and are seeking to boost their economic and energy cooperation. The Kremlin said last month that Russia Vladimir Putin may take part in Beijing's own parade on September 3 to mark 70 years since the end of World War Two. Russia's Foreign Ministry also said the ministers would discuss the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping in events in Moscow on May 9 to mark the end of World War Two in Europe. Moscow expects Xi to come, although Beijing has yet to confirm the visit.
