Amateur Video, which can not be independently verified by Reuters, appears to show insurgent forces taking control of the crossing April 1st. In the course of a week, Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has faced several setbacks -- providing fresh reminders of the strains facing the Syrian army and its allies in the more than four-year-long struggle for control. As al Nusra fighters appear to celebrate victory on the border, Islamic State, the single most powerful insurgent force in Syria, is starting to threaten parts of Syrian still run by Assad -- in an ever expanding civil war that has already claimed the lives of more than 220,000 people.
