Volkswagen's 2015 Golf and 2015 Golf GTI take top prize at North America International Auto Show as best car of the year, while Ford's F-150 takes best truck award. Mana Rabiee reports.
At the North America International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2015 North American Car of the Year has been named -- Volkswagen's 2015 Golf and 2015 Golf GTI. The car maker says it beat out two other finalists, in the 22nd year of this coveted award. CEO Michael Horn accepted the award. SOUNDBITE: VOLKSWAGEN ... SAYING: "The Golf represents our DNA. I mean, clearly, because we all this engineering wisdom, all this precision, all this design into such a compact car." As for best North American Truck of the year, that prize went to Ford's F-150. Among its features ... a exterior cameras that give a 360-degree bird's-eye view of the truck to help drivers maneuver parking and tricky roads. This makes it the eighth time a Ford vehicle is named North American Truck/Utility of the Year.
