U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants President Obama to delay any action on immigration until after Congress approves legislation keeping the government running past December. Nathan Frandino reports.
Delay the immigration policy announcement. That's the message from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to President Barack Obama. Reid revealed Thursday that he's urged Obama to wait until Congress approves a bill to keep the government running beyond December. Obama is expected to announce his overhaul through executive action. The New York Times reports the plans would shield up to 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation. But it would also set up a major showdown with Congress, where, come January, Republicans will control both chambers.
