U.S. Navy releases video it says shows aircraft launching from USS George H.W. Bush in support of military action against Islamic State in Iraq. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The U.S. Navy released video on Sunday (August 23) showing sailors directing aircraft during flight deck operations aboard the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush on Saturday (August 22) and Sunday. The Obama administration earlier this month launched an air strike campaign to protect U.S. personnel from the Islamic State and to ensure northern Iraq's minority Yazidis were not subject to systematic violence at the hands of the militants. The U.S. military said on Sunday U.S. military forces continued to attack Islamic State targets, using attack and remotely-piloted aircraft to conduct two airstrikes in the vicinity of Irbil and Mosul Dam. U.S. strikes this month have helped drive Islamic State back from sensitive Kurdish regions.
