A warm welcome for Republican Senator John McCain as he arrives at a NATO base in Lithuania. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SENATOR, JOHN MCCAIN, SAYING: "It's my opinion we should be providing defensive weapons, light weapons, body armor, night vision, jet fuel. There are many things that Ukrainians need right now, as Vladimir Putin continues to violate their territorial integrity. And what we have done so far is almost disgraceful, how little we have done. We have not done enough to assist Ukraine and we need to do a lot more." McCain is on a tour of Baltic states, which fear Russia's military buildup over Ukraine will lead to Moscow to sow more trouble in their region. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SENATOR, JOHN MCCAIN, SAYING: "We should be providing them (Ukrainians) with military assistance. So far, the Obama administration has refused to do so. This is very unfortunate, because it only encourages Vladimir Putin." The Kiev government is seeking to reassert control slowly and without bloodshed in Eastern Ukraine. This comes on the eve of a peace conference in Geneva, when Ukraine's s foreign minister will meet his Russian, U.S. and European counterparts in Geneva.
