An intense stand-off in the Nevada desert between U.S. officials and armed protesters Saturday.
The government says rancher Cliven Bundy has been illegally grazing cattle on federal land. A team of armed rangers has come to take them.
But anti-government groups, right-wing politicians, and gun activists are rallying for Bundy.
The government backs down after talks with the Bundy family and releases the cattle.
Safety was a big concern for Metro Police.
SOUNDBITE (English) ASSISTANT SHERIFF JOE LOMBARDO, LAS VEGAS METRO POLICE, SAYING:
"We had a lot of fears. Individuals being shot, trampled. Individuals being run over on the highway. So it took a lot of resources, a lot of tax payer resources to associate with this."
Bundy's cattle are back on public land. It is unclear what the federal government will do next.
