Amateur video purports to show rebels firing weapons, and rocket propelled grenades, from a mountain in Kasab. Mortars are launched at supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. However, Reuters is unable to independently verify the content. Panic ensues on the outskirts of Deraa. Government forces are said to shown running from heavy gunfire. Rebel soldiers say they claimed control over the al-Sawame checkpoint near Deraa. The checkpoint is just outside of a major government compound in the province.
