Cast from 'City of Bones', the screen adaptation of the first book from the best-selling series The Mortal Instruments, hit the red carpet in Germany. Sarah Mills reports.
Excitement in Germany as the cast of the latest hit book series turned movie gold dust take to the red carpet. 'City of Bones' - the screen adaptation of the first book in The Mortal Instruments series - had its European premiere on Tuesday. SOUNDBITE: Kevin Zegers, actor, saying (English): ''I am a big fan of films like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings which I think that this film is much more like them than Twilight or something like that." Actor Kevin Zegers was accompanied on the red carpet by his co-stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower - plus their director Harold Zwart. SOUNDBITE: Harold Zwart, director, saying (English): "I think that the thing that really dragged me into the project was the idea of a really strong female character. I have a daughter who I think needs a good role model and I think Clary Fray is a really strong girl.'' Lily Collins stars in the fantasy movie as Clary, a seemingly ordinary teenager who discovers she is the descendent of a secret organisation of half-angel warriors engaged in an ancient war to protect the world from demons. She had already read the book when she found out a screen adaptation was in the pipeline: SOUNDBITE: Lily Collins, actress, saying (English): "When I had found out they are making it into a movie after I had finished the first book. So I emailed and send calls and trying to figure out how to be involved. But I never expected them to come to me. I was very excited, honoured and confused, but it was massive, it was really exciting." It's not all girl power, Jamie Campbell Bower stars as Clary's friend Jace Wayland, also heir of the ancient Shadowhunters. A sure fire hit - 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' is due to be released on August 29. Meanwhile a sequel to the film titled 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes' is already in pre-production.
