June 18 - A letter regarding the U.S. Constitution and penned by the first president of the United States, George Washington, will be auctioned at Christie's in New York. Tara Cleary reports.
Hand-written more than 200 years ago, a 7-page letter by the first U.S. president, George Washington. It will be auctioned by Christie's and is estimated to fetch between one and two million U.S. dollars. The letter was written in April, 1788, during the process of the states' ratification of the U.S. constitution, giving it significant historical value. The sale takes place at Christie's in New York on June 21st.
