Jun 6 - SodaStream booked global revenues last year of more than $436 million with its do-it-yourself soda-making system, but Pepsi denies it is talks to purchase the company. Conway G. Gittens reports.
The Daily Digit is $436 million... which are 2012 sales figures for make-your-own soda company SodaStream. Sales have more than tripled since 2009. The company's products are sold at stores ranging from London's upscale Harrods to U.S. discounter Target. SodaStream took on bigger rivals like Pepsi and Coca-Cola last summer with street demos showing how much plastic and aluminum can be saved by consumers switching to the do-it-yourself product. But there's speculation in an Israeli financial newspaper that Pepsi may want to take on SodaStream - by buying the company outright for $2 billion. SodaStream's market cap is $1.5 billion Pepsi says rumors of talks are untrue. SodaStream was not immediately available for comment.
