The Daily Digit is 1,020,410. That's how many of the compact Focus models - Ford Motor sold in 2012. The number makes the car the best-selling passenger vehicle in 2012 globally, according to Ford Motor citing automotive consulting firm Polk. More than one out of four Focus cars were sold in China, with registrations in the world's biggest auto market up 51 percent. U.S. sales were up 40 percent in 2012. The data, based on global new vehicle registration, also show Ford taking more than one spot in the top 10 best-sellers. Ford F-Series pickup truck ranks third and its sub-compact Fiesta, sixth. The overall auto industry has posted annual sales increases in the double digits since 2009, when it hit the worst annual sales rate since World War Two, adjusted for population.
