PLEASE NOTE, THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL Smoke fills the air above streets believed to be in the Syrian capital. Amateur video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, is said to have been shot in Damascus as yet another day of fierce fighting continued. More video showed what appeared to be a damaged police vehicle in the middle of a street. Rebels have battled government forces in what they say is an attempt to "liberate" Damascus. A bomb attack on Wednesday (July 18) killed four of President Bashar al Assad's narrow inner circle. The rebel momentum since then has added to a sense that Assad could be loosing his grip on power.
