Afghan President Hamid Karzai visits a hospital Wednesday to meet with some of the victims of a series of deadly attacks across Afghanistan.
On Tuesday at least 55 people were killed and 160 wounded, following attacks in three Afghan cities.
A Pakistan-based militant group is taking credit for the attacks.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai, saying (Dari):
"Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, who are active in Pakistan, has taken the responsibility for this anti-human and anti-Islam action. We will investigate this and will talk to the Pakistani government about this."
The attacks targeted Shi'ite Muslims, a minority in Afghanistan, only a day after a major international conference in Germany about the future of country.
Sectarian attacks in Afghanistan have been rare. Now citizens face the grim prospect of a new type of bloodshed being added to the dangers of daily life in a country at war.
