Dec. 4 - Amateur video shows latest public uprising against the Syrian government including a tank set on fire. Julie Noce reports.
EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL Amateur video from a social media website shows what it claims is the latest public uprising against the government in Syria. The video cannot be independently verified by Reuters, but seems to show a protest against President Bashar al-Assad. Demonstrators can be heard calling for his execution. Another portion of the video purports to show images from the city of Homs-- gunfire can be heard as plumes of smoke rise from the horizon. Other images show a tank that's gone up in flames after an alleged attack by the Free Syrian Army-- a breakaway military unit. The United Nations has condemned Syria for quote gross and systematic unquote violations that include executions and the imprisonment of some 14,000 people. Human rights activists say the death toll from the months-long uprising is close to 4,600. Julie Noce, Reuters
