PLEASE NOTE: REUTERS CANNOT INDEPENDENTLY VERIFY THE CONTENTS OF THIS VIDEO, WHICH HAS BEEN OBTAINED FROM A SOCIAL MEDIA WEBSITE Syrian security forces shot dead at least five protesters and wounded dozens on Friday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Reuters cannot independently confirm the content of this video but it purports to show the Al Omari Mosque in Deraa under fire. These videos posted to social media sites allegedly show ongoing demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad in the streets of the Syrian cities of Homs, Idlib and Hama. His government is under pressure from the Arab League who have suspended Syria and given it until the end of the week to comply with a peace plan to end the bloodshed that, according to the U.N., has cost more than 3,500 lives. While western countries including France continue to push Assad to resolve the crisis there appears to be no appetite for military intervention. Lily Grimes, Reuters
