Dramatic developments in the Philippines as the country's former president is arrested on her Manila hospital bed. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was arrested by police on charges of electoral fraud which carries a life sentence. Police chiefs said Arroyo was not removed from the hospital because of her condition, but she is now under police guard. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT, FRANKLIN BUCAYU, SAYING: "We were directed to serve the warrant of arrest of the former president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo." The 64-year-old was prevented from leaving the country with her husband on Tuesday to seek medical treatment in Singapore. Arroyo was elected president in 2001, serving two terms of office until 2010. Current president Benigno Aquino and his government have long accused her of corruption during her tenure.
