August 20 - Thousands of young people flood into the streets of Madrid to hear Pope Benedict speak. Andrew Raven reports.
A round of applause for the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Benedict is cheered during a mass at the historic Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. The pontiff is in Spain as part of World Youth Day festivities, a gathering of thousands of young Catholics. Many of them lined up outside the cathedral to hear Benedict speak - a show of support that comes at a critical time for the church. Around the world, it is struggling to attract young followers. But many of those in attendance say the institution is still popular. (English) CHRISTOPHER, PILGRIM, SAYING: "The Church is alive and there is still very much of a lot of young people who are still considering going into the priesthood and going into the seminary." Later on Saturday, Pope Benedict will preside over the mass confession of around 200 pilgrims in a Madrid park.
