July 23 - Amateur video shows thousands of anti-government protesters taking to central squares across Syria Friday. Lindsey Parietti reports.
During Friday protests in Syria, thousands mass in central squares to tell the government "enough killing." This amateur video reportedly shot in Hama, 200 km north of the capital Damascus, shows residents shouting defiant chants against their government. Protesters have been calling for President Bashar al-Assad's removal since March, undeterred by the government's use of force and mass arrests. During another march in flashpoint city Homs, men patrol the streets with guns. Two men appear to be breaking into a house amid the chaos. Videos posted online have been some of the only visuals coming out of the country since Syria expelled international media. Lindsey Parietti, Reuters
