Services in Paris for seven French soldiers killed in Afghanistan last week. French President Nicolas Sarkozy was joined by fellow members of the French government at the memorial service. Sarkozy said the soldiers had not died in vain. SOUNDBITE: French President Nicolas Sarkozy, saying (French): ''You have defended our country's most beautiful values. You have fought in a righteous war engaged against a tyranny which imprisoned its people, which oppressed women, which kept its children in ignorance and which had transformed a whole country into a free market of terrorism'' France has lost 70 of its soldiers since the war in Afghanistan was launched in 2001.
