Demonstrators continue to take to the streets amid reports that hundreds have been killed in government crackdowns. In Aleppo, Syria's second largest city, students add their voice to calls for change. Video purportedly from Tel Kelakh shows empty streets amid the sound of gunfire. The videos appear amid reports that the town has come under heavy shelling for days. In Dael, a man sings a national song as doctors join demonstrators calling for the end of President Bashar al-Assad's rule. Human rights groups say Assad's crackdown has killed at least 700 civilians. Authorities blame the violence on armed groups backed by Islamists and outside powers In Homs, stores are closed as shopkeepers observe a strike called by the Syrian opposition. Syria has barred most international media organizations from operating in Syria, making it hard to verify reports from activists and officials.
